My Story

The story so far

A movie, a 500-mile walk and a fear of rejection. Here's how I got here.

  1. Chapter 1 · Colorado

    The mountains

I grew up in the mountains of Colorado and went to a variety of private schools.

  2. Chapter 2 · Age 8

    A new word

I watched Iron Man (legendary) and learned the word entrepreneur.

  3. Chapter 3 · Senior year

    The capstone

I did my high school capstone on the decline of proper collective leadership.

  4. Chapter 4 · The summer after

    500 miles, by accident

I accidentally committed to hiking 500 miles along the Colorado Trail, a feat I couldn't imagine myself completing. Three days in, one of my three best friends dropped out. Thirty days later, the other two and I finished.

For the first time in my life, I had relentlessly pursued something I didn't believe I was capable of. As they say, motivation falters, discipline holds. It definitely helped my WHOOP health score, but more importantly, it changed the way I think.

  5. Chapter 5 · Freshman year

    Entranced

I got involved with Canyon Angels, a Phoenix angel group, and by the end of the first month I was entranced. I hoped to become Director one day, but figured that at best I'd get one semester in the role.

At the end of my first semester, I was offered team lead. Cool. One step closer.

  6. Chapter 6 · End of freshman year

    The scout

I was offered a role as a scout at Campus Founders Fund, a venture fund run by students. Surprised I'd been chosen, I accepted immediately.

  7. Chapter 7 · End of sophomore year

    The handoff

I was handed the role of Director, the one I'd hoped for since that first month.

  8. Chapter 8 · Junior year

    Fear of rejection

I started working at Goall to better understand the psychology behind sales and to get over my fear of rejection.

One month in: fear of rejection abolished.

  9. Chapter 9 · Currently

    Still learning

I'm learning how to adapt different sales and negotiation techniques to different situations, while going deeper on VC economics and fund management.
